Players from two volleyball teams in action during a match in an indoor gymnasium, with two players jumping to block the ball at the net, and other players ready for the play.

Representatives from Plains Schools spoke at our March 11 meeting requesting financial support from SCCC members for their endeavor to create a "Two-Court" Volleyball system & bring a mid-season volleyball tournament to Sanders County. The benefits of this project can be far-reaching (including benefiting area businesses). Your Chamber Board encourages member businesses to consider financial contributions for this endeavor.

**Memo Volleyball Tournament

The tournament format:

Pool Play: (Pool 1 will play on the High School Court and Pool 2  will play on the Junior High Court)

Each team will play two sets to 25 (capped at 25). The winning team will be determined by set wins or point spread if the sets are split. There will be two courts going at all times. In order to keep things moving efficiently, we will not have the typical 20 minute warmup before every game. There will be a warm up before a team’s first game and it will be 4/4/2. After each team has played one time, then there will be no warm up. The next game will begin succinctly after the preceding match in order to maximize efficiency.

The 9:00am  games for both courts will have warmups at 8:50am. If you do not play in the first pool play games, please plan your arrival time to include your warm up time of the second pool play game and to start immediately after the first game. If your team is late to their first game, we will wait for 10 minutes and if the team does not show, then a forfeit will occur. If the team shows in the ten minutes, then warm ups will resume and play will continue.

Seeded Tournament:  Upon completion of pool play there will be a short break for teams and officials to have lunch before bracketed play begins.

Tournament play will be single elimination and the two pools will combine. The number one seeds will play the #4 seeds of the opposite pool. Seeding will be based on sets won, then point spread. A bracket will be displayed in the common areas of the High School Gym.  The scoring format for bracket play will be 25/25/15.

Plains will provide clocks and bookkeepers for the day. Each team will be responsible for providing one line judge for each of their teams’ matches in pool and bracket play. A  hospitality room will be provided for coaches, officials, administration and bus drivers. Concessions will be available for players and parents. Two locker rooms and one classroom will be available for use in each gym and may need to be shared. We thank you ahead of time for the respectful use of our locker rooms and classrooms. Bench towels and ice will be provided. Each team will need to bring their own medical kits, towels for showering, and toiletries.

Space may be limited due to the amount of teams playing, but there will be space provided for each team to store a cooler, bags, and personal belongings.

We are excited to host your team and look forward to playing!
